A group of investment banks and legal advisers could share fees worth in excess of a quarter of a billion dollars from a huge global technology deal proposed today.

The US-based semiconductor giant Broadcom said in a statement it had made a cash-and-stock offer worth $130bn for the San Diego chip maker Qualcomm.
