3i and Carlyle pile into public investments

Two private equity groups - the UK's 3i and Carlyle of the US - today announced their intention to list funds that invest in publicly traded assets.

3i plans to raise more than €400m ($541m) in a London Stock Exchange listing of a fund that will take minority positions in publicly traded companies. The listing is expected to take place next month, listing 400 million shares at 100p per share.
