3i builds on its Indian connections

UK-listed private equity group 3i has made its first investment in India from its dedicated infrastructure fund alongside a government-backed agency for a stake in a local power generator.

The firm acquired a minority holding in Adani Power for $227m (€159m). The investment also gained support from the India Infrastructure Finance Company, which provided an undisclosed amount in debt funding for the project.
