3i buys Hobbs

Rothschild auctions Jimmy Choo

3i, the UK-listed private equity group, has bought Hobbs, the UK women's fashion retailer, from Barclays Private Equity for £111m (€160m) in a secondary buy-out.

Barclays, part of the UK bank of the same name, originally backed Nick Samuel, the managing director of Hobbs, in a buy-out worth about £30m in December 2002.
