A tiny advisory firm is driving the Panmure Gordon takeover

Big-name M&A bankers are conspicuous by their absence from the advisory line-up on a takeover involving a former Barclays CEO and one of the oldest stockbrokers in the City.

Panmure Gordon confirmed today that it had agreed to sell a roughly 43% stake to the investment firm Atlas Merchant Capital - controlled by former Barclays boss Bob Diamond - and Qatari investment bank QInvest.
