Aberdeen lands Murray Johnstone for £150m

Aberdeen Asset Management has pulled off the purchase of Glasgow-based Murray Johnstone (MJ) for £150m (€250m).

Snap reaction to the deal is that the price looks high. It equates to a notional 1999 post-tax earnings multiple of more than 40. It is equivalent to a chunky 3.5% of MJ funds under management. Aberdeen stock was off 4% on news of the deal.
