Accounting discovery casts shadow over German bank merger

The merger of German cooperative banks DG Bank and GZ-Bank is at risk of failing, after advisers discovered €500m ($433m) worth of additional potential risks in DG's accounts.

In the process of doing due diligence for the merger Ernst & Young, GZ-Bank's financial adviser, found that DG Bank could lose a further €500m in the next few years.
