A change of stance by German regulators could mean firms will move more staff than originally thought

The City’s status as Europe’s international financial centre is not seriously threatened by Brexit, even a hard one. There will be a shift of people and capital into the EU but the losses to London are likely to be relatively modest in the context of the City as a whole.

Even so we are talking about thousands of very valuable jobs together with a good chunk of tax revenue. And recent events suggest that the worst-case costs may be rather higher than seemed probable a few months ago.
