The London-based investment firm chaired by former US vice-president Al Gore made some smart trades in the third quarter

Despite the volatility and uncertainty in the stock market this year, Al Gore and the London-based investment firm that he co-founded and chairs, Generation Investment Management, have proven they can thrive even in this climate.

The largest public fund by assets that Generation IM manages, Lombard Odier Funds-Generation Global, continues to beat the market. The class of the fund with the US dollar as the reference currency is posting trailing returns that top the SPDR S&P 500 ETF, according to Morningstar.
