Allianz Global Investors is reportedly exploring a merger with DWS, the listed fund management unit of Deutsche Bank — a potential tie-up that could help finance the German bank’s merger with Commerzbank.

According to a report in Bloomberg on March 16, Allianz, the large German insurer, is considering merging its €505bn investment arm with DWS to create a business with $1.3tn in assets under management.
