Allianz ups the pressure on company boards

German fund manager stands out again for its tough stance on corporate governance, following a 2017 overhaul of its approach

Allianz Global Investors, a German asset manager that toughened up its corporate governance oversight in 2017, followed up last year by further tightening the screw and focusing on executive pay.

Allianz, which manages €535bn, said it voted against pay proposals at 52% of the more than 8,500 company annual general meetings it took part in during 2018, up from 42% the year before.
