Amaitis takes control as Cantor Fitzgerald splits operations

Cantor's eSpeed sued over alleged patent infringement

Cantor Fitzgerald, the inter-dealer broker, is splitting its business by placing its profitable fixed-income voice broking arm into a private partnership called BGC Partners and heading it with Lee Amaitis. It will then hire hundreds of new broking staff in Europe, the US and Asia.

Cantor's fixed-income voice broking accounts for about 40% of its annual turnover.
