Buyout firm Apax Partners is "saving its firepower" for now, its investment chief has told Financial News, but with the UK heading for recession he expects buying opportunities as valuations drop.

Nico Hansen, partner and chief investment officer at Apax Partners, was speaking following interim results for Apax Global Alpha, a closed-end investment vehicle listed on the London Stock Exchange.
