Arbitrage fund takes aim at Gartmore investment trust

An investment trust managed by Gartmore has become the latest target of arbitrage investors, which look to extract a profit from funds which trade below their true value.

The £395m (€591m) Gartmore European Investment Trust moved its annual general meeting forward today after its largest investor, fund manager and arbitrageur Carrousel Capital, requested the appointment of a number of directors to the board.
