Private equity giant Bain Capital is promoting longtime executive David Gross to co-managing partner as part of an ongoing leadership succession that shifts co-managing partner Jonathan Lavine to a new role as chair.

The men officially assume their new titles on 1 April, according to a letter sent to the Boston firm’s fund investors that was viewed by WSJ Pro Private Equity, a fellow Dow Jones Group title.
