Banks see mixed fortunes in healthcare deals

Four investment banks are now embroiled in the struggle over Roche's $3bn (€2.17bn) hostile offer for Ventana Medical Systems, as another lost out on an $8bn healthcare deal.

Swiss pharmaceuticals giant Roche last month offered $3bn in an unsolicited bid for Arizona based cancer diagnostic company Ventanta Medical Systems, whose executives had ignored Roche's advances for months.
