New York fines Barclays $15m over CEO’s whistleblowing error

Penalty comes seven months after Jes Staley was fined £642,430 by UK regulators

Barclays has been fined $15m by the US state of New York over its chief executive Jes Staley's attempts to unmask a whistleblower in 2016.

The UK bank confirmed the settlement with the NY State Department of Financial Services on December 18. It comes seven months after Staley was fined £642,430 by UK regulators.
