Bets on the metaverse are untried and untested, and investor returns could still be “years away”, analysts warned.

HSBC announced plans earlier this month to take a stake in so-called Web3 technology, securing a partnership with Sandbox, a metaverse gaming firm with tie-ups with the likes of sports brand Adidas and rapper Snoop Dogg.
