BGC strikes deal for real estate financing business

Brokerage firm BGC Partners has agreed to buy a commercial real estate financing business for $875m, a deal that comes as it prepares to float its own property division Newmark Knight Frank.

The acquisition of Maryland-headquartered Berkeley Point Financial will be partly funded through a combination of bond issuance, loans or other debt financing arrangements, according to a statement today.
