BGI hits £1 trillion as management fees grow

Profits at Barclays Global Investors, the passive and quantitative-specialist fund manager owned by UK bank Barclays, rose 7% to £388m (€570m) during the second quarter, buoyed by active management and its iShares exchange traded funds business.

The asset manager broke through the £1 trillion under management barrier, helped by £25bn of net new assets. A further £12bn came thanks to BGI's acquisition of German exchange traded fund business Indexchange in November.
