Bitcoin dips below $19,000 after surpassing 2017’s all-time high

The price of bitcoin dropped below the $19,000 milestone hours after topping its previous 2017 record of $19,783.21, once again illustrating the cryptocurrency’s volatility even as cheerleaders hailed its success.

Bitcoin surpassed its previous intra-day record, which was set on 18 December 2017, to rise as high as $19,888.82 at 11:10AM GMT on 1 December, according to data from Luxembourg-based exchange Bitstamp.
