Calpers sees $26m net gain on lending

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (Calpers) has earned more than $26m (€31m) in net income from securities lending for the quarter ending March 31, 2001. The sum exceeds previous earnings by an average of $13m per quarter.

The jump reflects the revenue from the $159bn pension fund's auction of two portfolios via eSecLending, an online auction system launched by Old Mutual.
