Calyon profits soar 48%

Surging capital markets and investment banking profits helped propel net profits at Calyon, the investment banking arm of French banking group Crédit Agricole, up 48% to €667m ($832m) in the first six months of this year.

Net profits were struck before integration costs relating to the near- €20bn takeover by Crédit Agricole of Crédit Lyonnais which was finally approved in March 2003.
