Carl Icahn set to launch $3bn hedge fund

Carl Icahn, the US investor, is understood to have approached investors in a bid to raise a $3bn (€2.5bn) hedge fund.

Icahn is set to invest almost 5% of his personal fortune in the fund. He is rated by Forbes magazine as the 26th most wealthy person in the world with assets valued at more than $7bn, amassed from takeovers spanning three decades, starting in the 1980s when he bought Texaco, the oil company, and TWA, the airline.
