Carlyle buys Insight and offloads Apama

Carlyle Group, the US private equity firm, is to buy Insight Communications, the ninth largest cable operator in the US, for $10.70 in cash per share.

The purchase is in partnership with Insight's co-founders, Sidney Knafel and Michael Willner, and represents a 11% premium over the closing price of Insight's stock on March 4, 2005.
