Carlyle co-CEO responds to ‘predatory practices’ tweet from Ocasio-Cortez

Glenn Youngkin said private equity firms had not done a great job of explaining the benefits the industry delivers

The Carlyle Group’s co-chief executive Glenn Youngkin responded to criticism from a US congresswoman by saying the industry has not done a “great job in helping people understand what we do” – a point made by many other senior executives at buyout groups.

Speaking at the SuperInvestor conference held in Amsterdam this week, Youngkin responded to a tweet by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said buyout groups’ “predatory practices actively hurt millions of Americans”.
