Carlyle abandons Mena fund plan

Buyout firm will still seek out targeted opportunities in the region

Global buyout firm Carlyle Group has abandoned plans to raise a second buyout fund for deals in the Middle East and North Africa.

The group has decided not to push ahead with plans to raise the fund after receiving less demand than expected from its investors. As a result, there will be no follow up to its 2007 $500 million Mena Buyout fund.
