Chinese oil firm suspended in $550m crisis

China Aviation Oil, a Singapore-listed subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned CAO Holdings, is seeking protection from creditors after losing $550m (€413.6m) from derivatives trading.

The company said it had started negotiations with some of the creditors to structure a settlement and allow China Aviation additional time to work out a rescue package to maintain the company's financial position.
