Citi plunges to group loss on $22bn Trump charge

Citigroup's fourth-quarter profits took a $22bn hit after the bank joined Wall Street rivals in putting a figure on the short-term cost of US President Donald Trump's new tax regime.

The hit, which Citi announced today with its quarterly and full-year results, plunged the firm to an $18.3bn group net loss in the final three months of 2017.
