Citigroup CFO John Gerspach: trading revenues likely fell in first quarter

Citigroup's chief financial officer John Gerspach has dealt another blow to investors hoping for a rebound in trading revenue at major Wall Street banks.

Speaking at an investor conference hosted by RBC Capital Markets on March 8, Gerspach said revenues from equities and fixed-income trading likely fell 15% in the first quarter. The comments add to the building consensus that a hoped-for rebound isn't coming soon.
