Citigroup has hired a senior metals and mining banker from UBS and Merrill Lynch has restructured its Japanese capital markets business, as bulge bracket investment banks continue to hire aggressively ahead of a predicted increase in business across the Asia-Pacific region.

Alexander Molyneux, previously head of metals and mining investment banking at UBS in Asia, has left to join Citigroup in the same role.
