Citigroup reported its best quarter for M&A revenues in almost a decade at its results on January 14, suggesting its investment in building its presence in mergers and acquisitions advice is paying off.

The bank reported $463m in revenues from M&A advisory services during the final quarter of 2018, a 77% increase compared with the third quarter, and up almost half compared with the same period a year ago.
