Corney & Barrow hedges its bets on the British summer

Corney & Barrow, a chain of London wine bars, has taken out its second weather hedge. Outside the energy industry it was the first to take out a European weather derivative almost four years ago.

The transaction is based on a critical number of "hot" days measured against pre-agreed daily temperatures during a specified period.
