Crédit Agricole and Crédit Lyonnais, who are already engaged in protracted merger negotiations, are in the market to raise €300m ($291.8m) for Pragma Capital, a newly created joint venture private equity vehicle.

The creation of Pragma Catpial is seen as a further sign of collaboration between the two banking groups before a full blown merger takes place.
