Crédit Agricole profit falls ahead of IPO

A one-off cost from its planned flotation meant that Crédit Agricole's net profit in the first half of 2001 fell 32% compared with last year.

The capital provisions of setting up an internal fund ahead of the initial public offering cost the French banking group €457m ($414m). This expense meant that net profit for the first six months was €961m, down from €1.4bn in 2000.
