Cruise operator challenges Carnival and P&O deal

The Italian cruise operator taking the European competition commission to court over its approval of the £3bn (€4.3bn) merger of rivals Carnival and P&O Princess is using the deal's complicated structure in its case.

Festival Crociere, a small Italian company, believes the commission failed to take into account the difference between the dual-listed company structure that Carnival and P&O adopted and the original plan for a cash and stock acquisition.
