Pension funds are taking closer look at custodial relationships amid concerns about unfair pricing on FX trades

A lawsuit against BNY Mellon for overcharging the Virginia state pension fund for foreign exchange transactions may be the “tip of the iceberg”, as pension funds take a closer look at custodial relationships.

James Economides, co-founder of Amaces, a provider of custodian monitoring services, said there are a number of ongoing discussions between custodians and pension funds on overpricing on foreign exchange trades.
