CVC rebuilds retail portfolio with Dutch buy

UK-headquartered buyout group CVC Capital Partners has boosted its stable of retail businesses after sealing the €695m ($1.1bn) acquisition of a majority stake in Dutch supermarket chain Schuitema.

CVC has acquired a 73.2% stake in listed supermarket chain Schuitema from retail group Royal Ahold. Under the terms of the deal, Ahold will receive 58 Schuitema stores as well as associated real estate and €185m in cash. The deal gives Schuitema a €950m enterprise valuation.
