Deal failure rate at seven-year peak

Almost a quarter of mergers and acquisitions announced in Europe have failed this year, the highest level for seven years.

Of the $718.8bn (€560.8bn) worth of deals announced so far, $174.8bn, or 24%, have been withdrawn, according to data provider Thomson Financial.
