Bankers fight to get spoils on a rare IPO in Europe

As financial institutions battled the figurative storms of the financial crisis, a yacht sponsored by Aviva’s Dutch insurance subsidiary, Delta Lloyd, was experiencing a no less turbulent time in the round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race.

The boat overcame technical problems and fought all the way to complete the race, no mean feat given the size of the 39,000-mile, nine-month test of endurance.
