Gareth Derbyshire, executive director at Morgan Stanley and number two in the company's European Pensions Group, is leaving to join rival Merrill Lynch.

Derbyshire, who has been with Morgan Stanley for seven years, was second in command at the European Pensions Group to Alan Rubenstein, managing director of Morgan Stanley.
