Eastern Europe defies mutual fund trend in Europe

Eastern Europe saw a growth of 70% in mutual fund investments, bucking international trends in mutual fund investments last year, according to a survey by DWS Investment, the mutual fund arm of Deutsche Bank.

Eastern Europe, in this case comprising the aggregated investment volumes for Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania, saw inflows of €9bn ($9.7bn). The growth was driven mainly by new money coming in rather than by market gains.
