EU opens Thomson Reuters probe

The European Commission on Tuesday opened an antitrust investigation into news and financial-data company Thomson Reuters on suspicion that the company abuses its dominant market position.

The commission - the European Union's executive arm - is concerned that Thomson Reuters is locking in customers using its real-time market data feed services by preventing customers and competitors from translating Thomson Reuters specific codes to be used elsewhere.
