Eurex prepares for US expansion as volumes rise 25%

The volume of contracts traded on Eurex, the European futures and options exchange, rose by a quarter in 2007, a year which ended in the completion of Eurex's acquisition of the International Securities Exchange of the US.

A record 1.9 billion of contracts were traded last year on Eurex, up from 2006’s total of 1.5 billion. Average daily volume increased 25% to 7.5 million contracts. Eurex is owned by German exchange operator Deutsche Börse and the Swiss Exchange.
