Euronext launches consultation on shorter trading day

Consultation follows a similar move by the LSE, which has already found a number of leading financial institutions supportive of the move

Exchange operator Euronext is asking market participants to consider whether they would benefit from a shorter trading day, as discussions around the possibility gather steam across the region.

In its consultation, which comes as the financial services industry grapples with home-working triggered by the Covid-19 virus, Euronext suggests options for opening trading as late as 10:00 London time, or closing as early as 15:00. Trading currently runs from 08:00 to 16:30 on the London Stock Exchange.
