European CDS markets rally on Lehman talks

European credit derivatives markets rallied in early trade on expectations that Lehman Brothers may be bought or rescued over the weekend after a week in which its share price has been pummelled by persistent fears over its strength and stability.

The US investment bank has been forced into emergency talks over a possible sale after its share price plunge more than 40% yesterday on concerns over its survival after negotiations for a potential stake acquisition by Korean Development Bank faltered.
