European ECM backlog grows to €50bn

Senior bankers estimate that the backlog of equity capital markets (ECM) issuance in Europe has grown to €50bn ($55bn) as issuers wait for market conditions to improve.

European ECM issuance so far this year stands at €5.6bn, a third of the €16.5bn over the same period last year – itself well down on 2001.
