Failed European deals reach a five-year high

Failed bids hit their highest levels in Europe for five years, despite a boom in mergers and acquisitions activity.

Although European M&A is at near record levels, deals worth more than $130bn (€101bn) have been withdrawn since the start of the year, according to data provider Thomson Financial.
