Edward Bramson, the activist investor, has won his battle for control of F&C Asset Management following a boardroom showdown at an extraordinary general meeting this morning, the results of which will see him installed as chairman of the company.

Bramson, the founder of Sherborne Investors, which has a 17% stake in F&C, made an appearance at today's meeting to call for the resignation of chairman Nick MacAndrew and another non-executive director.
