Financial job sites fight for space in increasingly crowded market

Web-based recruiters look to content for an edge

'Wanna job?' It's hard to resist the wiles of the increasingly prominent third-party recruitment sites - CitiPeople.com, bankrole.com, eFinancialCareers.com, owned by Financial News - each one rich with a tantalising confection of job openings and career advice. No wonder they are so popular - and proliferating so quickly.

Deservedly so, says Roddy Gow, chair of the financial services practice at headhunters Odgers Ray & Berndtson. 'The focused specialist sites are much better than the general ones, such as Monster. The challenge for the recruiting industry is to form links with sector-specific sites, to the benefit of all,' he says.
